National Council Update – December 2018

November 16-17, 2018

The National Council met in Kansas City, Missouri, November 16-17, 2018.

The Council engaged in strategic discussions related Growth and Extension, Health and Wellness, the Women’s Wellness Initiative, and ongoing leadership development and succession planning. The Council adopted revisions to the National Service Partner Parameters to enhance opportunities for additional service partners to join the Women’s Wellness Initiative.

Members of the National Council were joined by Kris Haskin, Foundation President, and Jamie Jones Miller, NPC Delegate, for a service project with Dress for Success Kansas City.

The team spent about half a day helping the Dress for Success staff and volunteers sort and match clothes for their Boutique Blowout Sale. The staff members were outstanding hosts and incredible to work with. They are doing some amazing work in the Kansas City area to support women.

On Friday evening, the National Council hosted nearly 20 alumnae, some driving in close to four hours, to celebrate an evening of sisterhood. Alumnae members from Alpha Nu (Central Missouri State University), Epsilon Epsilon (North Miami Campus of Johnson & Wales University), Alpha Sigma (Northeastern Missouri State University), and Iota (Emporia State University) joined together at a local restaurant to share stories late into the evening.

The National Council hosted a call to follow up on action items from their weekend meeting.

The National Council advanced the conversation on revisions to the National Council competency development.

December 4, 2018

The National Council received an update on the Sorority’s chapter services framework and discussed health and wellness initiatives.

The National Council approved revised direction on growth and extension strategies.
