Our thoughts are with those impacted by Hurricane Harvey and its continued aftermath, and with our Sisters and their loved ones in Texas and Louisiana. National Officers and Headquarters Staff have been in touch with several individual members. The Houston Alumnae Chapter is working to check in on Sisters in the area. At this time, we are uncertain of the total impact as the storm and its consequences continue.
The past few days have been tragic and the coming months will be difficult. But we take some solace in yet another example of our sisterhood coming together locally to support one another.
Until more direct impact opportunities are known, we encourage you to support and share information about local charitable organizations that will assist with community support and rebuilding. If you are searching for a way to help, donations can be made to the Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
Donations can also be made to our Women’s Wellness Initiative National Service Partner, Dress for Success. Dress for Success is dedicated to helping women in impacted areas over the long term, and will work to ensure that resources are directed to those most in need. This link will direct you to local donation options for the affiliates most impacted by these events.
If you know of Sisters who need help, please contact Headquarters at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will make every effort to connect them to Sisters in their area.
If you have suggestions for other reputable charitable organizations Sisters can consider, please be encouraged to share them on social media.
