Organization Impact

Updated April 13, 2020

Convention (updated April 13)
Alpha Sigma Tau’s first priority is always the safety and wellbeing of our members. The Sorority’s 43rd National Convention is scheduled in Atlanta in June, but due to the COVID-19 situation, Alpha Sigma Tau is in the process of developing contingency plans.

At this uncertain time, we are moving forward with planning and preparing for both the in-person event and a virtual option. We are working with our team and vendors to explore our options and determine what a virtual Convention may look like. The Sorority will continue to make all decisions with the safety and wellbeing of our members at the forefront. We hope to have more concrete information to share with you soon.

If there are concerns about travel expenses, members should purchase refundable ticket options or consult with airlines about other accommodations they may make to assist passengers during this time.

Travel (updated March 19)
We are monitoring this situation, including which universities have confirmed cases of COVID-19, closely and daily. All chapter visits and chapter services-related travel has been suspended for the remainder of the academic year. Staff will continue to support chapters virtually. Other National Organization travel is not yet suspended, but decisions may be made to restrict travel as new information becomes available.

Organizational Operations (updated April 3)
Alpha Sigma Tau is well-prepared to continue operating at a similar level of output and is in a place of stability from the staff member and volunteer leadership perspective. In order to limit unnecessary exposure to groups and to provide an atmosphere supportive of our employees’ needs, all staff members working out of the Headquarters Office will work remotely beginning Monday, March 16, through Friday, May 1. Many of the Sorority’s current staff members already work remotely and based on our systems and setup, chapters and members should experience zero interruptions in service or support. We will continue to monitor the situation and may adjust as needed.
