Establishing a Named Scholarship

Individuals and chapters may establish designated, named scholarships. Such scholarships may be restricted to a general field of study or for members of a specific chapter. Named scholarships are eligible for award distribution after a minimum funding balance is reached. The current funding minimum is $25,000.

To establish a scholarship:

Send a letter indicating the intent to create a scholarship to the Chief Executive Officer of the National Foundation.

A letter of agreement will be sent to the individual/chapter that includes:

  • the requirements for the scholarship award
  • a contribution schedule to fund the scholarship with at least $25,000 over no more than a five-year period
  • how contributions, interest, and expenses will be credited and expensed to the fund
  • how and when scholarships may be awarded

For additional information on making gifts of property, securities, life insurance, acknowledging the Alpha Sigma Tau National Foundation, Inc. in your will, endowing a scholarship or employer donation matching, please contact the Foundation.

I am honored and grateful to have been awarded a scholarship from the Alpha Sigma Tau National Foundation. The generosity of the Foundation and its donors have made a critical difference in my ability to afford higher education. Scholarships not only provide financial support, but encourage women to give back to their communities and the Sorority. Your generous gift to the scholarship fund promotes the development, scholarship, and leadership of exceptional women.
