How to Give
When you donate to the Alpha Sigma Tau Foundation, you make an investment in our Sorority and its future growth. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Donations may be mailed to the Foundation office or may be made online by clicking on the link below to “Donate Now.” Gifts may be one-time or recurring and may include an honor or memorial dedication; you decide the best way to invest in Alpha Sigma Tau.
One-Time Gifts empower you to give the amount(s) of your choice as often as you would like throughout the year.
Recurring Gifts allow you to “set it and forget it” with an automatic monthly donation in the amount of your choosing. Recurring donations help the Foundation plan and operate more efficiently and help us give you, our generous supporter, the best return on your investment.
Honor Gifts are a great way to recognize a Sister or family member for something special with a donation to the Foundation. The donation form allows you to select the Honor Gift option. Provide us with the name of the honoree, reason for the donation, and an address, and we will notify her of your thoughtful gift.
Memorial Gifts are a great way to support the Foundation while paying tribute to a loved one or special Sister. When you provide us with a contact name and address, we will notify the family of your generous tribute.
Employer Matching Gifts
Did you know many companies match charitable donations made by their employees? Check with your employer to see if they participate in a matching gift program. If so, you have the opportunity to double, or even triple, your impact!

For those 72 or older, directly transfer funds from your IRA to the Alpha Sigma Tau Foundation to count towards your IRS-mandated required minimum distribution (RMD) and reduce your taxable income.
If you are age 72 or older, IRS rules require you to take required minimum distributions (RMDs) each year from your tax-deferred retirement accounts.
A QCD (Qualified Charitable Distribution) is a direct transfer of funds from your IRA, payable directly to a qualified charity, as described in the QCD provision in the Internal Revenue Code. Amounts distributed as a QCD can be counted toward satisfying your RMD for the year, up to $100,000. The QCD is excluded from your taxable income. This is not the case with a regular withdrawal from an IRA, even if you use the money to make a charitable contribution later on. If you take a withdrawal, the funds would be counted as taxable income even if you later offset that income with the charitable contribution deduction.
Why is this distinction important? If you take the RMD as income, instead of as a QCD, your RMD will count as taxable income. This additional taxable income may push you into a higher tax bracket and may also reduce your eligibility for certain tax credits and deductions. To eliminate or reduce the impact of RMD income, charitably inclined investors may want to consider making a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). For example, your taxable income helps determine the amount of your Social Security benefits that are subject to taxes. Keeping your taxable income level lower may also help reduce your potential exposure to the Medicare surtax.
