In college, our Sisters were no more than 10 minutes away at all times, but as alumnae, our membership experience looks a little different. Alpha Sigma Tau provides members at all life stages with the opportunities to develop strong relationships, care for our Sisterhood, grow as individuals, and empower women.
Your Alpha Sigma Tau experience, even as alumnae, is what you make of it, so choose some, any, or all of the ways below to get involved!
Update your member profile and contact info
If you want to get all the latest news, opportunities, and feel-good stories to your mailbox or inbox, make sure your contact information is up-to-date. If you’ve moved, changed your name or email address, or got a new job or if it’s been more than six months since your last update, it’s time to update or verify your info. Log into AΣT Connect to get started.
Find a “lost” Sister
Thousands of Sisters have fallen out of the loop because they moved or changed contact information without providing an update. Now they’re marked as “lost” and missing out on news, opportunities, communication from your chapter, and feel-good stories. Help your Sister-friends who might be on that list reconnect back with Alpha Sigma Tau by providing Lost Sister updates. Get started finding Lost Sisters here.
Connect with local alumnae
Whether you’re a new grad just starting out or an empty nester looking for new connections, our alumnae groups are a great way to grow your network with local like-minded women. Find an alumnae chapter or association near you or consider starting one yourself.
Build connections over shared interests in our online communities
Coming Soon! In early 2020, Alpha Sigma Tau will be offering six official Facebook groups for members to connect over shared interests. We’ll offer groups for entrepreneurs, travel lovers, moms, twenty-somethings, book lovers, and wellness enthusiasts. Make sure you’re receiving our emails so that you’re in the loop when they’re launched!
Attend an upcoming event
In addition to local events hosted by alumnae groups near you, consider attending an event like Convention. Or host your own during Alpha Sigma Tau’s Night to Reunite, our annual nationwide day for Sisters to get together and reconnect.
Organize volunteer service with Sisters
Get a group of Sisters together and volunteer with one of our National Service Partners, Girls Who Code or Dress for Success. Volunteering with your Sister-friends is not only good for the soul, but you’ll be empowering women and girls in your local community. Click here for ideas on how to get started.
Hold the door open for collegiate women
A key part of being an Alpha Sigma Tau alumna is empowering the next generation of women. We know that when we get where we’re going, it’s time to turn around and hold the door open for someone else. Here are a few ways to empower our collegiate Sisters.
Support a chapter’s project
Consider supporting a collegiate chapter project. Many chapters are using our fundraising platform to collect donations for their local philanthropic initiatives. See if your chapter is hosting any fundraisers or if another chapter’s fundraiser strikes a chord with your personal passions. Find a list of chapter projects here.
Give to the Foundation
Our Sisterhood relies on the generosity of donors, and your gift will leave a lasting mark on young women nationwide. Help Alpha Sigma Tau impact future generations of women by making a gift today.
Grow our Sisterhood
A wonderful way to get involved as an alumna is to help grow our Sisterhood. If you know a young woman attending college where we have a chapter, write a recommendation for her. Or if you know women in your family or community who would also enjoy being an Alpha Sigma Tau, consider inviting them into our Sisterhood through Alumnae Initiation.
Volunteer with us
Alpha Sigma Tau heavily relies on the time and talents of members to help propel the Sorority forward. Consider giving back to Alpha Sigma Tau through your skills and passions. Visit our volunteer page to learn more about available opportunities.
Advocate for the sorority experience
Single-sex organizations are under threat on college campuses, and we must take a stand. As sorority women, we know the value in women’s spaces, but some universities are making college women choose between being a sorority member and holding student organization or athletic team leadership roles or receiving scholarships or graduate fellowships. Read more about how you can Stand Up to Harvard and advocate for the sorority experience.
