Lenore Seibel King Scholarship

The Lenore Seibel King Scholarship is named for Past National President Emerita Lenore Seibel “Sybil” King (Psi 1947/James Madison). This award is the Foundation’s first-ever named scholarship, established in 1984 by the Houston Alumnae Chapter. It is reserved for a member of Alpha Sigma Tau.

About Lenore Seibel King

Lenore Seibel “Sybil” King was Alpha Sigma Tau’s 7th National President and was honored with the title of President Emerita on the Centennial Founders Day. She dedicated herself to Alpha Sigma Tau, serving in several leadership roles through her time. She was a committed supporter of the Foundation, serving as both President and Vice President of the Foundation Board from 1983 to 2005. She was also responsible for establishing the first Alpha Sigma Tau National Headquarters office in Birmingham, Alabama. Her husband, Thomas J. King, Jr., also has a named Foundation scholarship for engineering.

Sybil’s involvement in Alpha Sigma Tau had a tremendous impact on the history of Alpha Sigma Tau. She was a dedicated leader, a lifelong friend, and a devoted support of the ideals of Alpha Sigma Tau. Her legacy lives on in Alpha Sigma Tau through this scholarship.
