The Mary Ellen Willmitch Scholarshipis named in honor of Mary Ellen Willmitch (Alpha Rho 1968/Youngstown). This award is reserved for a member involved in the study of elementary education.
About Mary Ellen Willmitch
A founding member of the Alpha Rho Chapter at Youngstown State University, Mary Ellen Willmitch has been a dedicated Alpha Sigma Tau supporter. After graduation, she joined the Youngstown Alumnae Chapter and volunteered with the Alpha Rho Chapter as Chapter Advisor until the chapter’s closing in 1975. When Alpha Rho re-established, Mary Ellen served as New Member Coordinator and Training Coordinator for Advisors. For nearly 25 years, Mary Ellen volunteered with the Alpha Tau Chapter at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania as Chapter Consultant. In this role, she guided the Alpha Tau chapter become the first chapter recognized with the coveted Founders Award. In addition to her local roles, Mary Ellen also volunteered nationally in various roles, including District President and on the National Council as Director of Fraternity Programs.
Thanks to the generosity of Mary Ellen, generations of Alpha Sigma Tau women are empowered to become the influential educators of tomorrow.
