Help Shape the Future of National Convention
Alpha Sigma Tau is seeking members to serve on a Convention Review Working Group to help us take a fresh look at the structure, experience, and culture of our biennial National Convention.
Inspired in part by Priya Parker’s The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters, this working group will explore how we can make Convention an even more intentional, meaningful, and engaging gathering for Alpha Sigma Tau members.
What will the working group do?
From November 2026 through April 2027, members of the working group will gather feedback, explore new ideas, and develop recommendations for the future of National Convention.
The group may consider topics including Convention programming, schedule and length, frequency, logistics, guest speakers, signature events, the Silent Auction, and other aspects of the Convention experience.
Some recommendations may be possible to implement at the 2028 National Convention in Lexington, Kentucky, while larger changes may help shape Conventions beyond 2028. The dates and location of the 2028 Convention are already established and are not part of this review.
The group’s final recommendations will include potential benefits, challenges, logistical considerations, and financial implications for the ideas proposed.
Who should apply?
We want the working group to reflect a variety of Convention experiences and perspectives. We especially encourage applications from:
- Alumnae who have attended 5+ National Conventions
- Collegiate members
- Members who are newer to Convention or have attended fewer than two times
- Members who have considered attending Convention but ultimately decided not to
- Members who enjoy asking questions, exploring new ideas, listening to different perspectives, and thinking creatively about the member experience
You do not need to be a longtime volunteer or Convention expert to contribute.
Time Commitment
Selected members should expect to serve November 2026–April 2027. The full working group will meet at least monthly, with additional individual or small-group work between meetings as needed.
The group will begin meeting in early November and will submit its recommendations to Alpha Sigma Tau staff and National Council by the end of March 2027, with final follow-up completed in April.
