Alpha Sigma Tau is Growing! Two Alumnae Join the National Staff
Alpha Sigma Tau is excited to welcome Emily Kindred, Beta Delta and Rachel Bourgeois, Phi to the National Headquarters team. Emily will serve as Director of Development and work primarily with the National Foundation, and seek to engage more members as supporters. Rachel is the Director of Meetings and Events, and will provide leadership and planning for the Sorority’s national events starting with the 41st National Convention this June.
Emily (pictured left above) has been an Alpha Sigma Tau since 2008, when she was initiated at the Beta Delta Chapter at Duquesne University. There, she was a dual major in public relations and corporate communications, earning a bachelor of arts degree. From there, she went on to serve in many professional roles including as an Educational Consultant for the Sorority, where she offered operational support and guidance to collegiate chapters. Most recently, Emily has worked in the development office of St. Coletta of Greater Washington, which serves children and adults with intellectual disabilities, ultimately rising to the role of Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations. She remains involved with Alpha Sigma Tau, serving on the Chapter Advisory Board at the Epsilon Nu Chapter at McDaniel College until 2015, and as Vice President with the Baltimore Alumnae Chapter.
Rachel (right above) joined the Sorority in 2005 as a member of the Phi Chapter at Southeastern Louisiana University, where she also earned a bachelor of arts degree in organizational communications and a master’s degree in organizational communications and public relations. Like Emily, Rachel served as an Educational Consultant shortly after graduation, and went on to work in a variety of professional roles including with the Office for Student Engagement at Southeastern Louisiana University. After that, she was a Staff Assistant and Press Assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives, and a Research Assistant for the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. She also stayed involved with Alpha Sigma Tau, serving on the Chapter Advisory Board for the Psi Chapter at James Madison University, and as part of the Northern Virginia Alumnae Chapter.
“We are thrilled to welcome both Emily and Rachel to the team,” said Jim Paponetti, Executive Director of Alpha Sigma Tau. “Both are members and former Educational Consultants for the Sorority, so they each bring a unique understanding of what it means to be an Alpha Sigma Tau. I look forward to the outstanding contributions they will make – both in terms of national operations and enriching the member experience.”
