National Council Update – July 2016

The National Council finalized details before the 41st National Convention.

June 26, 2016

The National Council met briefly following the close of the 41st National Convention to conduct important business per the Bylaws:

  • Erika McManus Bukva, Delta Rho, National Vice President, was appointed to serve as Chair in the event of a temporary absence of the President.
  • National Vice Presidents Emma Bunnell Rice, Phi; Jennifer Kemmery Nowotnik, Delta; and Sara Brown, Gamma Pi, were appointed to serve as the National Council Minutes Approval Committee, with Emma Bunnell Rice serving as Chair.
  • National Vice President Jennifer Kemmery Nowotnik, Delta, was appointed to serve as the National Council Liaison to the Nominations Committee.
  • National Vice President Erika McManus Bukva, Delta Rho, was appointed to serve as the National Council ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees.
  • National Vice President Sara Brown, Gamma Pi, was appointed to serve as the National Council ex-officio member of the Governing Documents Committee.

The National Council finalized July 5, 2016, as a conference call date, and July 27-31, 2016, and November 3-6, 2016, as in-person meeting dates.

July 5, 2016

The National Council adopted an amendment to Standing Rule IV.C. The National Philanthropy is the Alpha Sigma Tau Women’s Wellness Initiative. The motion included a proviso to direct the Executive Director to make all necessary corresponding changes in other areas of the Standing Rules, Policy and Position Statements, and any necessary program documents and publications.

The National Council accepted an invitation to join the Panhellenic community at the University of Minnesota Duluth in the spring semester of 2017.

The National Council Conference Call Schedule through January 2017 was adopted.
