Advisor Spotlight: Kendra Scott, Psi
Kendra Scott
Alumna of and Chapter Advisor for Psi (James Madison University)
Why Kendra Serves
As many women say, I never would have imagined, after joining AΣT in 2008 as a collegian, developing such strong and influential relationships within my chapter that are still present today. The impact these women have had on my life has been remarkable. I learned (and continue to learn) what it means to be an active contributor to a community, a reliable friend and colleague in my relationships, to show compassion for others, and to be open to new ideas and change. These are the reasons I believe it is important to volunteer. I want to motivate, encourage, and challenge the leaders that make up AΣT chapters to set the bar higher, to strive to be better than the status quo, and to be change agents. I want them to recognize the tremendous impact their decisions have on the larger community and beyond. In short, I want them to define excellence.
About Kendra
Outside of advising, my full time job is as the Coordinator for George Washington University’s undergraduate new student orientation program in Washington, D.C. I also serve as an advocate on the university’s Sexual Assault Response Consultative Team and as a staff advisor to Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. In my free time, I like to be outside with my dog (Stella), run, read, play with my Nikon camera, and enjoy time with friends and family.
About Advisor Appreciation Month
Each April, Alpha Sigma Tau celebrates our invaluable advisors who work on the front lines of our collegiate chapters.
Throughout the month of April, we will showcase Alpha Sigma Tau advisors here and on the Sorority’s social media. This is just one way way we seek to salute advisors like Kendra, who work tirelessly to ensure that their chapters are better off today than yesterday, and most importantly, set them up for tomorrow’s success.
As we move through Advisor Appreciation Month, keep an eye peeled on this website to learn more about other advisors. Also be sure to follow along on social media with #ASTadvisor. There, you can see chapters recognize their advisors and share personal stories of how an advisor made an impact in their lives.
