Meet an Advisor: Tori Lucas

Just a few months after graduating college, Tori Lucas (Epsilon Psi 2018/Rowan) was appointed as the Operations and Finance Advisor for the Delta Sigma Chapter at Saint Joseph’s University. While it’s unusual for someone to be appointed as an advisor so quickly after collegiate life, Tori was highly recommended by another advisor.

A chapter Sister, Shanique Williamson (Epsilon Psi 2017/Rowan), served as the Growth Advisor for the Gamma Omega Chapter at La Salle University. She recognized Tori’s love for the Sorority and her passion for helping others. Shortly before Tori graduated, Shanique recommended her as a Chapter Advisory Board prospect to Headquarters.

“I saw the impact my chapter advisors had on me while I was a collegian and wanted to be able to give back after seeing everything our advisors did for my chapter,” she said. During her collegiate years, Tori served in many roles, including Vice President of Operations.

Now, Tori can return the favor and make an impact on today’s collegiate members – in fact, it’s her favorite part of advising. Part of that impact includes being a supportive figure for a collegiate officer. “Being an advisor means being able to talk through difficult situations and support the officer in the decision they need to make for the chapter. Being an officer requires being a leader, and sometimes, you need someone in your corner,” she said.

This level of support is particularly relevant to the Delta Sigma Chapter, which is still experiencing some of the challenges that come with the merging of the University of the Sciences and Saint Joseph’s University. These challenges include modified course offerings, joining a college Panhellenic for the first time, and making necessary changes to recruitment strategies to be competitive with other sororities on campus.

“Helping the women navigate this transition has given me a perspective of what it’s like to be a newer chapter on campus. They have put 100% effort into this past year and are adapting as best they can to the situation,” she said.

When issues arise and support is needed, it’s important to be flexible, which is why Tori supports the Delta Sigma Chapter officers in person and virtually. She explained, “I support the officers and chapter as best I can, whether that be by attending a chapter meeting or hopping on a Zoom call to talk through whatever they need help with.”

Outside of Alpha Sigma Tau, Tori works in data analytics for URBN, the parent company of stores such as Urban Outfitters, Free People, and Anthropologie. She also has a two-year-old golden retriever named Archie, who takes up much of her free time.

Thank you to Tori and all the advisors who help our collegiate women grow, learn, and improve daily!
