Advisor Spotlight: Amanda Davis, Delta Upsilon

Amanda Davis

Alumna of Delta Upsilon (Saint Leo University)
Chapter Advisor for Delta Psi (Denver Campus of Johnson & Wales University)

Why Amanda Serves

I volunteer as the Chapter Advisor for Delta Psi for a couple reasons. The first is re-connecting with Sorority life again. After living abroad for three years, I really missed being part of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sisterhood, and felt this was a great way to get connected again. I also decided to volunteer because of the promise I made during Initiation to give back to the Sorority as an alumna, and I take that promise very seriously. When I learned that a chapter in my area was needed an advisor, I knew that this was a great way for me to give back. I knew that with my talents, skills, and background in Higher Education, I could work with the collegiate women to continue the Sorority’s tradition of defining excellence.

About Amanda

My life outside of advising for Alpha Sigma Tau isn’t that different. I currently work at the Colorado School of Mines as an Academic Advising Coordinator, meaning I advise college students for a living. I have worked with college students for the past nine years, and truly credit AΣT and my alma mater St. Leo University for my love for student affairs in higher education. I hope to start a Ph.D. in higher education leadership in the fall to continue making a difference in students’ lives. Besides advising the women of the Delta Psi Chapter and at Mines, I am an avid traveler. I have backpacked across Europe, played with camels in the Middle East, and helped build homes with Habitat for Humanity International in Africa. I love to help people, see the world, and make new friends. In my home life, I have a dachshund named Keebler and together we like to explore Colorado and all the wonderful hiking trails this great state offers. I am an avid fan of both the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins, love to lift heavy weights at Crossfit, and just completed my first full marathon this past October! The next challenge on my list is a 5-day, 750-mile hike on the Colorado Trail with Operations Nine Line: New Trails, an organization that raises funds for wounded veterans.

About Advisor Appreciation Month

Each April, Alpha Sigma Tau celebrates our invaluable advisors who work on the front lines of our collegiate chapters.

Throughout the month of April, we will showcase Alpha Sigma Tau advisors here and on the Sorority’s social media. This is just one way way we seek to salute advisors like Amanda, who work tirelessly to ensure that their chapters are better off today than yesterday, and most importantly, set them up for tomorrow’s success.

As we move through Advisor Appreciation Month, keep an eye peeled on this website to learn more about other advisors. Also be sure to follow along on social media with #ASTadvisor. There, you can see chapters recognize their advisors and share personal stories of how an advisor made an impact in their lives.
